Unite – Storytelling on Vava’u and Tongatapu

An Australian illustrator writer is staying at Vava’u Villa too. We have an animated chat. I hear from others, as she is too modest, that she will be sharing her stories with the children of Neiafu at the public library this morning.  To my delight I am invited.

The library is the size of a garage, and we are surprised at the old age of most of the books.  A small but keen group of young people come in and sit on the small chairs.  The author reads her stories to about ten delighted faces.  She also explains the Australian wildlife which appears on her pages.  There are so many smiles and intense concentration.  Story is a great connector, and I would not have missed this for the world.

Slow – Ha’atafu

Cycling – To be added

Snorkelling – To be added

Oh, I see I didn’t finish this post from July 2017, and now it is June 2023.  I recall that I cycled to nearby beaches on dusty, tranquil roads.  I also know I snorkelled on the beach outside the front of the small, lovely resort and was excited by the bright blue starfish.  My trip to Tonga was a stand-out from all the Pacific trips I’ve done.  Wonderful memories always.
